【Indications】Treatment of hypercholesterolemia, familial hypercholesterolemia
【Usage and Dosage】
Generally, pitavastatin calcium 1 to 2 mg is given orally once daily for adults.
The dose may be increased or decreased as appropriate for age and treatment response, and may be increased in cases of inadequate LDL-cholesterol reduction to a maximum daily dose of 4 mg.
Precautions：
1. For patients with liver disease, the initial dose is 1 mg daily and the maximum dose is 2 mg daily. (Refer to [Caution in administration] [pharmacokinetics])
2. Because of the possibility of adverse events associated with rhabdomyolysis as the dose (blood concentration) of this preparation increases, pay sufficient attention to the pre-myocardial symptoms of rhabdomyolysis such as elevated CK (CPK), myoglobinuria, muscle pain and weakness when increasing the dose to 4 mg.. [Dosing above 8 mg in foreign clinical trials is terminated due to rhabdomyolysis or related adverse events].
3. For patients with moderate and severe renal insufficiency (glomerular filtration rate 30-59 ml/min/1.73 m2 and 15-29 ml/min/1.7 3m2 without hemodialysis, respectively) and end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis, the initial dose of 1 mg once daily and the maximum dose of 2 mg once daily should be administered.
